The Hands-on-Hips motif, consisting of a stylized female figure with her hands on her hips, represents motherhood, femininity, fertility, and productivity. It has been used in Anatolian weavings with wishes for abundance, prosperity, good luck, fortune, happiness, and having healthy children.

Unity and Loyalty

Fetters consist of two rings and a bond connecting them, which prevent animals from straying from each other. In weavings, they symbolize the loyalty of lovers to each other, family unity, and the continuation of togetherness.

Happiness and Good Luck

The star motif, carrying the light of the sky to the earth, expresses wishes for happiness, abundance, health, and good fortune. In some weaving traditions, it is also associated with protection from the evil eye.

Abundance and Fertility

It represents the abundance born from the soil and the reward for labor. It signifies a strong harvest, proliferation, productivity, and the desire for the uninterrupted continuation of life.

Protection in Four Directions

The cross or incision form in weaving culture is not only considered a religious symbol. It is believed that its arms, opening in four directions, break the evil eye into pieces, neutralizing it; it symbolizes the protection of life, home, and cherished values.

Power and Protection

The dragon motif is associated with strength, power, abundance, and protectiveness. In mythological narratives, it is considered the guardian of treasures and the tree of life; it is used with the wish to bring power and well-being to its location.

Abundance and Amulet

Burdock is a plant believed to ward off evil glances with its thorny structure. Derived from the idiom "to multiply like burdock," it also symbolizes abundance, fertility, and proliferation.

Power and Productivity

Represents the creative and transformative power of humans. Associated with labor, productivity, abundance, and the power to dominate, the hand motif is also a strong protective symbol used against the evil eye.

Protection Against Danger

Expresses the desire for protection against the wolf, one of the greatest threats to herds in nomadic life. Over time, it has become a symbol of protection not only from wolves but from all dangers surrounding the family and living space.
